Workshops: Learn hand-crafts with leather and weaving

Hello Dear Soul!

After years of personal growth and experience, I’m excited to begin sharing the techniques I’ve honed, inspired by ancient traditions and diverse cultures from around the globe.

My work incorporates materials gathered through meaningful journeys—whether it’s recycled leather sourced from local factories near my home, or feathers, wool, cotton, seeds, or crystals collected from sacred sites during my travels. Each item has its own story, and through these workshops, I invite you to join me in creating something beautiful and meaningful.

Currently I offer two kinds of workshops each with a different materials:

01 “ Unleash your creativity and immerse in the world of leather “

Where: My Home Atelier, Torres Novas, Portugal
When: By reservation only
Cost: €60-90 (the price includes materials and depends which ones you'll chose to work with)
Duration: 3 hours

Since 2014, I’ve been breathing new life into dead-stock leather, sourced from large factories, and refining my craft along the way. Over the years, I’ve developed my own techniques through trial, error, and learning from my mistakes. Each project has been a lesson, and now I’m excited to share these experiences with you.

In this workshop, participants will dive into the art of leather crafting. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to enhance an existing project, you’ll learn the fundamentals of leather work, including design, cutting, sewing, and crystal embroidery. Together, we’ll explore the endless possibilities of this versatile material, guiding you toward creating pieces that are not only beautiful but built to last.

02 “ Spin and Weave with Cotton and Wool “

Where: Home Atelier, Torres Novas, Portugal
When: By reservation only
Duration: 3 hours
Cost
: €55 (includes materials)

During my travels through Mexico, Guatemala, and Colombia in 2023/2024, I had the privilege of connecting with the earth and its ancient crafts in ways I never expected. Along the coast of Oaxaca, I stumbled upon wild cotton and, driven by curiosity, gathered it as I journeyed to meet tribes willing to share their wisdom. In Guatemala, I encountered a group of Mayan women who taught me the art of spinning cotton, along with natural dyeing techniques and creative inspiration. On Colombia's northern coast, I connected with members of the Kogi tribes, who introduced me to the intricate art of weaving and crafting traditional Colombian 'Mochilas.'

In this workshop, participants will dive into the timeless arts of spinning and weaving cotton and wool—skills passed down through generations. You'll have the opportunity to transform raw fibers into thread and begin crafting your very own Kogi-style bag, all while deepening your connection to nature and the cultural heritage that nourishes these traditions

I love my crafts and I am gladly sharing these workshops with you. Feel free to reach out to talk and apply for the workshops!

with Love,
Raquel, Seara Minha
